My former business partner Jace called me one night saying that his new band, Midnight Divide, needed help with their website so I obliged. That turned into a secondary bromance with Midnight Divide's songwriter-at-arms and all around babeasaurus rex, Austen Moret. We talked at length over various fine whishkeys about ideas we had for his then un-released single, "Talking". We settled on a visual ode to Los Angeles and the loose story of somone leaving behind a relationship in the form of written journals.
Austen, myself, and some friends trotted literally all over LA county to get the shots we needed. Pirate's Cove Beach in Malibu was brought to life by expert drone operator Matt Dutcher. A creepy prop warehouse in a very off-the-books part of Chinatown was used for the Magic Blue Light shots as well as the bookshelves. Big Bear Lake became the location for the beautiful and talented Katherine Bloom to do her thing, and the rooftop scenes were completed on the historic Ace Hotel in DTLA.
